Bhairavi Goswami lashes out at Bachchans? [Bollywood News]

While the whole industry had only good wishes for the Bachchan family, after news of Aishwarya's pregnancy broke out last week, starlet Bhairavi Goswami feels otherwise. The actress, who debuted in Bheja Fry, lashed out at the Bachchans indirectly on popular social networking site Twitter.

Bhairavi tweeted, "Nauseating 2 read superstars givg interviews abt wanting a girl baby whn she has gone 2 Bangkok to an IVF clinic which specializes in boy babies. Height of hypocrisy. They knw damn well its a boy, aftr all she has to produce a male heir at any cost - Typical UP mentality, no wonder that state has such high female foeticide."

Knowing the Bachchans, we are pretty sure, they won't bother to react to such talk.

Love You To Death[Movie Previews]

Love You To Death (August 2011)
Sonia (Yuki Ellias), a wealthy & wooly headed young woman is married to Atul Sinha (Chandan Roy Sanyal), who is driven entirely by money and ambition.

Atul's mother, Sundari (Suhasini Mullay), has a fascination for violent video games and hand sanitizers, while his father, Ravi (Kallol Banerjee), loves poetry, wildlife and Sonia's tarot card reader (Sheeba Chaddha).

Chhotu, the young 'house help' dreams of having a chain of massage parlours on the beaches of Goa, while 'Baby', the family dog, suffers from chronic depression and anorexia.

When Atul is offered a chance to expand his defense and security business by Yuri (Leonid Kudryavtsev), a Russian-Israeli arms dealer, he sees the millions pouring in. There are of course wheels within wheels: Atul is fascinated by war yet personally suffers from 'missile failure' and needs the services of a sexologist (Shorab Ardeshir), who is accidentally a 'rock star' in his spare time.

Yuri sells arms but his son Moshe is a 'peacenik' who has come from Gaza to Goa, where the 'grass' is greener.

To close the deal, Atul needs Sonia to invest her money and the land she owns. But Sonia suddenly has other plans.

She has in the meanwhile met John (Nicholas Brown- Kites fame), a bicycle riding, Aloe Vera drinking 'eco-warrior', who manufactures solar panels. When Sonia decides to invest all her money in John's project to manufacture 'molybdenum' solar panels, Atul and his mother become desperate.

Murdering Sonia for her money is the only option.

They make several attempts, one of which is 'outsourced', with some entirely unexpected and comical results.

Finally, Sonia realizes what her husband is up to. It all culminates in a crazy climax of guns and coffins, high art and martinis.

Murder or accident, husband or wife, who will have a happy ending?

LYTD - an outrageous comedy in 'Hinglish', about love that does not exist, therapy that does not work and three murders waiting to happen...

Ajay all set to reunite with Omkara team for a romcom Click here to add this article to My Clips[Bollywood News]

Ajay Devgn would be doing a romantic comedy next with director Vishal Bhardwaj and producer Kumar Mangat. While it's the Omkara connection between the trio which is making this film extra special, what is also remarkable is the fact that this would be an out and out romantic comedy, a genre that Ajay rarely explores.

"Ajay's last out and out solo romcom was Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998) which was also special since it saw him serenade his then-girlfriend Kajol in a romantic outing. Now this new film with Ajay will release in 2012 which is also akin to life coming back full circle for him. Though it is yet not known whether Kajol would feature in the film, one looks forward to what Ajay has to do in this film", informs a close associate of Ajay.

He is pretty much bang on target here though. In the time period gone by, Ajay has done dozens of dramatic films but romcom is a genre that he has largely stayed away from. The only exceptions have been love stories like Dil Kya Kare, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and U Me Aur Hum which were dramatic outings. Also, Ishq had Ajay and Kajol in relatively serious roles even as Aamir and Juhi indulged in all the 'masti'.

"It was high time though for Ajay to do a romcom", continues his associate, "He has seen huge success in comedies in the recent past, especially with Golmaal franchise, All The Best and Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge doing so well. His male bonding flick Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji also showed sparks of romance with much junior Shazahn Padamsee though there were other couples as well. However a romcom that went well with his age and also saw a good on-screen chemistry with his co-star was always waiting to happen."

While one waits to see who is in Vishal Bhardwaj's mind for the leading lady, one does expect it to be someone who is an actor of substance. For a director who has worked with the likes of Priyanka Chopra, Kareena Kapoor and Tabu in the past, anyone lesser is ruled out.

"It is too early to divulge the name of the leading lady yet", says Kumar Mangat, a long time associate of Ajay who is co-producing the film with him and Vishal, "But yes, a romcom was always on the cards for Ajay. I am glad he is doing it now. We would start the film's shoot towards the end of this year and release it in 2012."

Pot-shots taken at SRK's brand endorsement in Delhi Belly[Bollywood News]

After the continuous barbs and pot-shots between Aamir Khan and Shah Rukh, their fight for supremacy at the box office has now gone to the next level. To the endorsements, if you please!

Apparently, in that seeming ode to celluloid irreverence that is Delhi Belly, a brand of Korean car that Shah Rukh Khan endorses is badly manhandled by the protagonists. After this bit of artistic demolition, the characters stare triumphantly at the wreckage that once used to be a sleek auto mobile.

And then comes the clincher. Kunaal Roy Kapur (who incidentally is UTV's Siddharth Roy Kapoor's brother and also Guzaarish actor Aditya Roy Kapoor's sibling) turns around to say, "When a donkey mates (he apparently uses a much less polite word) an auto rickshaw you get a car like this."

So could the whole car-nama or shall we car-toot devised for this deviously disrespectful film be just a coincidence and no smirch on SRK's endorsement commitments?

Sources say, the brand of the car and the whole car-bashing that follows was pre-planned and conceived as a direct dig on SRK.

According to a very reliable source, "Though obviously the brand name of the car that Imran, Vir and Kunaal go hammers and tongs at, is not visible on screen, the make of the car is obvious and it is also obvious which brand is being referred to .In this sequence, the automobile's brand ambassador's tastes in consumer goods are being questioned with a remark about a donkey mating an auto-rickshaw."

Interestingly, Aamir and SRK's verbal duel has had many salacious dips and curves. The rivalry reached a kind of perverse peak when Aamir "coincidentally" named his dog after SRK. The ongoing battle again reached a crescendo with the war of words between Aamir's Ghajini and 3 Idiots, and SRK's Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and My Name Is Khan.

With Aamir now taking a pot-shot at one of SRK's most patented brand endorsements, we wonder where the rivalry will head now?

Aamir Khan's spokesperson confirmed the presence of the above sequence in the film.

Yash Chopra - 50 years & counting![Bollywood News]

As already announced, Yash Chopra's next directorial venture stars the king of romance, Shah Rukh Khan. As Yash-ji put it earlier, "Everyone knows that when I make a movie, Shah Rukh will be involved with it. He is like family to YRF and I have always regarded him as one of my own."

However, after days of media conjecturing, YRF has confirmed that the two ladies, who will be a part of this project, are Katrina Kaif, who will be playing a role opposite Shah Rukh for the very first time, and Anushka Sharma, who was launched in RAB NE BANA DI JODI alongside Shah Rukh.

Orchestrated by Yash Chopra, this untitled movie will mark the coming together yet again of the award winning duo of music maestro A.R. Rahman and poet-lyricist Gulzar.

Says the veteran: "It's been seven years since I directed VEER-ZAARA and as I begin work on my new film, I hear my inner voice asking me a lot of questions. Are you sure you want to direct again, you are nearly 80 years old and the audience is getting younger day by day. Can I really speak from my heart and still expect today's youth to listen to me? Will I be able to live up to the blind faith that Shah Rukh Khan has in me and give him yet another memorable romantic film? Will I be able to present the beautiful Katrina Kaif and the very talented Anushka Sharma in a way they have never been seen before? Will I be able to inspire Rahman and Gulzarbhai enough to create their best work yet?

"The honest answer is... I DON'T KNOW! All I know is that I'm making a film that I believe in, a film that is about love and nothing else. A film which has an old soul but a young heart. A film which is classic in its look but contemporary in its language. A film which I'm making on one simple faith... the love that my audiences have given to me over the years. They have tolerated my indulgences for the past 50 years, I'm sure they will indulge me one more time."

The film is scheduled for a Diwali 2012 release, the festive time when Yash Chopra movies, over the years, have lit up homes worldwide. Yash-ji, it's nice to have you back in the Director's Chair!

Why didn't Ash inform Heroine makers of her pregnancy?[Bollywood News]

If there is one question which is haunting the makers of Heroine (read: Madhur Bhandarkar and UTV), it is - 'Why didn't Ash inform them in advance about her pregnancy before giving her nod of approval to the film?'

"Ash is four months pregnant and it was during April when Madhur Bhandarkar had first approached her formally for the film. Only when she said 'yes' was Heroine announced in the month of May. Since Ash already knew about her pregnancy then, it is strange that she still went ahead with the film", says a source.

This is all the more surprising since Ash shares a good professional relationship with UTV especially after working with the corporate house in Guzaarish and Jodhaa Akbar. Even with Madhur she has shared a cordial relationship over the years and together they were looking forward to working with each other for years now. However, the pregnancy announcement has now thrown the entire plan for Heroine haywire.

"While attempts have been made to camouflage this sudden development by stating that the film is 50% complete, this is far from being true", continues the source, "It is not even 10% complete. At least 65-70 days are required for the shooting and then further time is required to be spent on the post production. With just 7 days of shooting so far, Heroine has merely gone on floors."

Other problem lies with the fact that the film was supposed to show Ash drinking as well as smoking. "How can he ask a lady to smoke and drink while she is pregnant", the source continues, "Neither would anyone do that nor would anyone ask for it. That would be inhuman."

All attempts to contact Madhur failed. Informs a source, "Madhur doesn't really know what has hit him. It is way too strong a bolt out of the blue to be ignored. A regular on social networking, he is now also off Twitter. He knows how to manage difficult situations but absence of a leading lady for a female centric film is something that even he hadn't fathomed."

Same could well be said for UTV with no one available for comment.

Farah Khan is delighted to be one of the 100 Most Promising Directors[Bollywood News]

Farah Khan can't believe she has been handpicked as one of the 100 most promising emerging new directorial talent in the world in a film anthology entitled Take 100: The Future Of Film 100 New Directors.

Says Farah happily, "I am just toooo toooo happy. In our country we don't value talent until it gets endorsed from the outside. I didn't even know about this until (film critic) Khalid Mohamed told me. Can you imagine, if he hadn't told me I would've never known! It's such an honour because I'm the only Indian director among the 100 who have been chosen. "

Farah's happiness is manifold. "It's not a small thing because the directors have been chosen by the ten well-known film-festival directors from across the world. Cameron Bailey of the Toronto Film Festival selected my film Om Shanti Om."

The best compliment that Farah got for this singular honour came from Karan Johar. Says Farah with a poker face, "Yeah Karan wanted to know if husband Shirish Kunder wrote this book."

Farah is unfazed by the fact that her last film received a lot of flak. "So what if many people didn't like Tees Maar Khan? It doesn't really bother me. One just has to accept the fact that sometimes one succeeds, sometimes one fails."

Aarakshan promos removed from Double Dhamaal prints[Bollywood News]

First it was Prakash Jha's film Raajneeti, the promos of which were removed from Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 3 Idiots. Well, now we hear that the promos of his latest film Aarakshan have also been removed from Double Dhamaal.

Apparently, Jha had sent a team to gauge the audience's reaction to the promos of Aarakshan in theatres, but was disappointed to discover that the promos had been removed from Double Dhamaal.

When contacted, Prakash Jha said, "Yes, I had spoken to the makers of Double Dhamaal months in advance about playing the promos of Aarakshan, and it was decided that they would play it. But now I don't know what really happened or the reason for the decision behind not having the promos played."

Further Jha adds, "The surprising part or rather the similarity between this and Raajneeti is that though the promos of both the film were not played in Indian theatres, the overseas prints carried both the films trailers. Besides we have resent the trailer of Aarakshan to the theatres and they will be playing them as well."

Chillar Party reject Harsh Mayar won National Award for I Am Kalam[Bollywood News]

Chillar Party may boast of biggies like Salman Khan and Ranbir Kapoor but Smile Foundation's film I Am Kalam has none other than the Missile Man of India, former Indian President Dr. A P J Kalam as its inspiration. The fun and family entertainer has a social message and just like the feel of the film, the lead child actor Harsh Mayar has also had a story of grit and determination.

Apparently, Harsh, who is a slum kid from Delhi, was first rejected by the makers of Chillar Party because he was a misfit for the film. Needless to say, Harsh was disappointed by the rejection and returned to Delhi little knowing what was in store for him. However, luck did decide to smile on the kid and he got noticed for his natural talent and got selected for I Am Kalam. Not just that, he got an opportunity to meet A P J Kalam himself and even complimented the Prez for his hairstyle. The little boy left the great Kalam himself impressed by talented.

Like it's said, it all happens for the best and being rejected for Chillar Party proved lucky for Harsh since he won the National Award for the film in the Child Actor category.

The film is fast becoming a movement. The story is about Chhotu who in spite of abject poverty has an inventive mind and a never say die spirit. (There are 60 million 'Chhotus' in India who are unfortunately involved in Child labour but dream of being educated.)

The film follows a fable like narrative, somewhat like The Prince and the Pauper friendship, which adds to its universal appeal. It's also inspired from a true story.

Other than the Best Actor in Child Artiste Category, the film has won 12 national and international awards, including the best feature film in the Lucas International Film Festival (Germany), the Don Quixote Prize of the International Cine Club Federations (Germany), Young Jury Award at the International Film Festival of India in Goa; the "Audience Favorite" Award at the Barbican London Children's Film Festival Award; a Special Diploma for the Best Actor Work at Minsk International Film Festival Listapadzik; and the Best Debutant Director Award at the Chalachitra Film Society, Kerela. The film has also received a Special Mention at the Cinekid International Film Festival in Amsterdam and the Ale Kino International Film Festival in Poland, for its attempt to disseminate an important social message.

Saif and Kunal Khemu to star in Raj and Krishna's Go Goa Gone[Bollywood News]

After directing the highly acclaimed Shor In The City, talented director duo of Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK are now busy with their next venture for Illuminati Films. The buzz is that their next is a zom-com (zombie comedy), a genre hitherto unexplored in Indian cinema. We got in touch with Krishna DK to get some more details on the project, "Yes...we are working on a zombie comedy for Illuminati Films. It's tentatively titled Go Goa Gone. So far we have Kunal Khemu and Saif Ali Khan on board for the project."

Elaborating on this new genre, Krishna DK adds, "Zombie comedy as a genre is hitherto unexplored out here. We decided instead of going for a full on horror film, it makes more sense to enter into zombie territory which gives scope for comedy too along with a few chills and thrills. It's an original script written by Raj, Seeta and myself. We've been toying with the idea of a horror-comedy for a while now but we were waiting for Shor to be released and now that it has, we are moving on to this project."

Considering the film is called Go Goa Gone, does Goa form the backdrop of the film? "Yes...the film is in a funny way set in Goa but it's not just about Goa. Besides Goa, we would be shooting in Mumbai as well as a few other locations too but the backdrop is Goa as it provides a fun setting for a youth film like this," says Krishna.

Speaking about the cast, Krishna adds, "We have Kunal Khemu playing the lead while Saif too plays a central character. Saif is really passionate about this project. It's not your conventional hero-heroine film. Here it's the script and the characters that are more important. There are only 4-5 characters in the movie and each one of them has an equally important role."

The director duo is also aware that there will be parallels drawn to other Hollywood zom-coms but they are not perturbed by it. Krishna says, "Zombie-comedy is a very narrow genre and once the film releases, comparisons are bound to happen. As much as I would say that ours is an original film there would be people who would draw comparisons with a few Hollywood zombie comedies but there is nothing we can do about that. It's a concept which is not much seen or heard about in Indian cinema and we are excited to present it to the audiences out here."

Sachin- Jigar, who gave a fabulous score in Shor In The City, is expected to score the music for this film too. The shooting is expected to begin in July.

Dhoni and Raina to join Akshay, John, Riteish in Housefull 2?[Bollywood News]

If two dozen top league actors weren't enough for Housefull 2, here is more. The film will now also see cricketers rubbing shoulders with the likes of Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Riteish Deshmukh in this Sajid Khan film. Early indications are that Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina have already been finalised for the film.

"Housefull 2 would be the first release after IPL 2012 and arrives on 27th April. Keeping this in mind, Sajid Khan has included cricket elements in the film's script so that it turns out to be just the right follow up to the cricket season", informs a well placed source from the film's unit, "With this latest development, audience will get a chance to see superstars from Bollywood as well as the cricket world sharing the same space."

While it is yet to be revealed if the cricketers would also be mouthing dialogues or would basically be playing themselves, there are confirmed reports of dates being already worked out with them.

"Dhoni and Raina are key members of the Indian squad and have a busy schedule ahead. However, Sajid Nadiadwala's prior relationship with Indian cricket team is turning out to be handy here", the source continues, "He has already had preliminary discussions and it is just a matter of the cricketers shooting for the film. They are movie buffs themselves and want Housefull 2 to be movie they wish to watch immediately after an exhaustive IPL season."

Though cricketers would certainly be stepping into Housefull 2, Nadiadwala is quite positive that the top league would comply due to his earlier relationship with them, as seen in his Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar starrer Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.

"He had managed to rope in Kapil Dev, Navjot Singh Siddhu, Harbhajan Singh, Ashish Nehra, Irfan Pathan, Srinath and Parthiv Patel in an all-important climax sequence of Mujhse Shaadi Karogi", he continues, "Now a cricket sequence features an important part of Housefull 2 as well."

When contacted Sajid Nadiadwala refused to comment on the names of the cricketers who have been approached for the film. Currently in London, he sent back a text message stating, "It is too early to say anything as of now."

Bbuddah gets U/A certificate[Bollywood News]

As far as audience-profile is concerned the big starrer Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap is already one-up on the Aamir Khan production Delhi Belly. Both release on July 1. But while Delhi Belly has been passed by the censor board with an 'A' certificate (for adults only) Bbuddah... was cleared on Wednesday with a 'U/A' certificate.

The flamboyant new Big B flick Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap with the mega-star wearing the most colourful clothes and mouthing the most flamboyant dialogues was passed with almost no cuts with U/A certificate on Wednesday afternoon.

That means, kids can watch the film with their parents. The Wednesday-afternoon censorial approval of the film put to an end all the speculation about the film being too over-the-top for the Big B's image.

Relieved with the censor certificate Bbuddah director Puri Jagannath said, "The censors loved it. They said it's a clean and neat movie."

Only shot was censored in the entire film.

Says Puri proudly, "It's an action shot. It shows a small-time villain firing bullets in the head. That apart not a shot was censored."

But now, with Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap looking so promising, Abhishek too seems to have green-lighted his film with this talented director from the South.

Ever since the first promo of Delhi Belly came out, the bold nature of the film did shock quite a few people. The film, which is all set for release on July 1, has now been cleared by the Censor Board with an 'A' certificate. However, the team of Delhi Belly can heave a sigh of relief as the Censor has cleared the film without any cuts.

Aamir Khan has always maintained that the content of Delhi Belly is strictly for Adults Only and now that the film has been cleared with an 'A' certificate, without any cuts, Aamir surely would be a relieved man.

Bejoy Nambiar's next is comedy with gangster theme

Now that Shaitan has garnered favourable reviews, its director Bejoy Nambiar is on to his next film which he calls a 'gangster/coming-of-age/comedy'. Sounds very much like what Nambiar attempted in Shaitan.

Laughs Nambiar, "I guess you can't take me too far away from my preoccupations as a filmmaker. But it's a different territory this time."

Too bad Nambiar's chosen title for his second film Michael has been taken away by another film starring Naseeruddin Shah.

"I'd have fought tooth and nail for it. But it's been taken by my Shaitan producer Anurag Kashyap's production. You can't fight family. So my struggle for a title begins again," says Nambiar.

Bejoy also had to struggle hard to get the vintage Mohd. Rafi song 'Khoya Khoya Chand' for his film. "But Sa Re Ga Ma (HMV) was not willing to part with the title, not for any money that I could afford. Finally, it was Rajeev Khandelwal who intervened to get us the song. Otherwise we had another alternative 'Lakdi Ki Kathi' (from the film Masoom) ready as a standby. I am glad Rajeev got us 'Khoya Khoya Chand'. That's the song I really wanted."

Bejoy almost didn't get Rajeev for the cop's role. Apparently, he wanted the Big B for the cop's part and even re-wrote the role to suit the senior icon. But Bejoy had no access to the Big B.

Says the director, "I even shot the climax without my hero because I hadn't finalized anyone. I don't want to go into all the specific actors I approached for the cop's role. Or for that matter all the other roles. But I'm glad I finally worked with the actors who were just right for their parts.

Cover Story is based on the story of a successful film actress played by Sheena. A concept driven movie, COVER STORY is about a special assignment for a magazine COVER STORY, a one night account of an interview with the film star and the scoop that the correspondent gets for the publication.

Cover Story takes place across an eventful night when a veteran journalist discovers there is more to the leading actress he is interviewing than meets the eye, and as the interview progresses, he finds himself drawn into the actress' intriguing world. As the dictaphone keeps recording, the interview derails, the characters collide and tension rises to a feverish level. Is this intimate interview of the actress, almost a confession (which for a different kind of reporter would be a publicity breakthrough), for real, or is she a better actress than he thinks she is? And does the reporter, with his approach, go a bit too far? The confrontation evolves into a passionate duel, with one overriding question: who is going to win?

Gandhi To Hitler[Movie Previews]

1939 - A world plagued with unrest and upheaval. Adolf Hitler's ruthless ambition for German expansion in Eastern Europe is becoming increasingly violent and inhuman. Whereas another nation, India, struggles in its fight for freedom against the British as the idealistic Mahatama Gandhi continues to appeal to his countrymen to adopt a stand of non-violence. A stark contrast in ideologies even with an eventual common opponent, Gandhi one day decides to pen a letter to the German dictator... a letter he hoped would persuade Hitler to change his path and avoid the Second World War, avoid the massive calamity that it would bring on.

Gandhi then wrote a second letter to Hitler, this time closer to Hitler's own downfall, at a time when Hitler was plagued with betrayal all around him while confined to an underground bunker. We witness a contrast in the ideologies of these two leaders and the eminent result of Hitler's brutal and catastrophic methods.

Gandhi to Hitler looks at Hitler's downfall, his last days when only his love Eva Braun and his trusted aide Joseph Goebbels stood by him, as Germany crumbled around him and his trusted comrades deserted him; and through the central young couple Balbir and Amrita we see that the fate of many was determined by the ideology that they chose to adopt.

The film establishes the superiority of Gandhism over Nazism, thereby giving the message of world peace, a message still relevant in today's context where the world continues to grapple with the dark clouds of terrorism.

Chillar Party -2011[Music Reviews]

EXPECTATIONS

There is set (low) expectation that one has from the music of kid films and that too for all the right reasons. After all one doesn't remember when was the last time a soundtrack for a kid flick actually went on to be popular. Ok, so the makers have roped in Ranbir Kapoor for a special song and dance number for the film. However with Chillar Party being less than three weeks away from it's theatrical release and the songs still trying to find it's way all over, there are doubts that creep in around the popularity of this album which has Amit Trivedi as the composer and Nitesh Tiwari as the lyricist.

MUSIC

immediately reminds one of 'Dhinka Chika' from Ready. The beats are just the same and rhythm too is on the same lines for this 'desi' number that has a bunch of singers coming together. While Amit Trivedi leads from the front, he is joined by Armaan Malik, Tanmay Chaudhari, Amitabh Bhattacharya and Arvind Vishwakarma who get the right energy and pace for this fun number which is 'tapori' to the core. Rest assured, if the song was picturised on a Salman or a Govinda, it would have gone some distance. However one doubts its prospects in a film like Chillar Party.

Surprisingly the song that follows, 'Tai Tai Phish', is in fact pretty similar to 'Aa Rela Hai Apun' with not just it's rhythm and pace but even lyrics being just the same. The only change is around the point when Amit Trivedi goes about singing 'Tai Tai Phish' which further reminds one of Akshay Kumar's 'Nana Chi Taang' [Khatta Meetha]. With Amit Trivedi joining Nitesh as the lyricist and Jaishri Trivedi giving him company behind the mike, 'Tai Tai Phish' turns out to be a fun outing which deserves good promotion.

Mohit Chauhan gets all sweet and saccharine for 'Chatte Batte' which is a playful number about all kids belonging to the same ilk despite their different names and appearances. A situational track which is easier on ears when compared to the first two songs, its interim portions remind one of Rahman style of composition. Armaan Malik, Gaurika Rai and Keshav Rai join Mohit for 'Chatte Batte' which also arrives in a 'sad version'. The song is decent though it doesn't have a shelf life beyond the film's narrative.

Remember the thump of 'Hum To Hain Aandhi' that was heard in Bhootnath a few years back? The same sound is heard again in 'Ziddi Piddi' which is again all about kid-power. A kind of number that has a 'revolutionary' appeal to it and is clearly designed for the situation where all kids come together to take on their enemy, 'Ziddi Piddi' is sung by Amit Trivedi, Armaan Malik, Tanmay Chaudhari & Gaurika Rai and doesn't go past the ordinary mark.

One associates a particular sound with music coming from Amit Trivedi. For the first time in the album this really happens with 'Ek School Banana Hai' which is written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and reminds one of Udaan. Yet again it's the bunch of kids who come together in an endeavour to teach a lesson or two to those who have forgotten their basics. Sung by Gaurika Rai, Kehsav Rai, Firoza and the students of Ajivasan School, 'Ek School Banana Hai' is a situational track that should elevate the proceedings in the film.

Armaan Malik and Firoza come together for 'Behla Do' which belongs to the rock genre and is a track that has the potential to find good visibility for itself provided it is aided by a music video. The song is about kids ruing the fact that adults take them for a ride by cajoling them in moments of trouble with their sweet nothings.

Finally arrives 'Liar Liar' which is written by Vikas Bahl and has a good flow to it. Coming quite close to the kind of songs that one hears in Hollywood kid flicks, 'Liar Liar' is an out and out English number which is quite sweet sounding in the voice of Gaurika Rai and Keshav Rai.

OVERALL

Chillar Party is a decent soundtrack though as mentioned at the beginning, it's prospects are hampered due to the fact that there is hardly any audience for music for kid flicks. Also, with numerous other biggie albums surrounding it from all ends, it would be quite a tough task ahead for the music of Chillar Party to make its presence felt.

OUR PICK(S)

Tai Tai Phish, Liar Liar, Behla Do

Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap[MUSIC REVIEW]

EXPECTATIONS

Music of Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap comes with good expectations. After all it has been ages since one saw a movie totally centred on Amitabh Bachchan. Add to this the fact that the film promises to bring back the 'angry man' image of Bachchan and one expects composer duo of Vishal and Shekhar to go all out in creating a snazzy soundtrack. Though it is little surprising to find only three unique songs in the album, one still plays on Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap hoping that it carries enough 'dum' in it.

MUSIC

It is an interesting beginning for the album with Amitabh Bachchan coming behind the mike for the title song 'Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap'. First to come is the 'Acapella' version where there are minimal instruments in the background with most of the sound created by Bachchan himself. Written by Vishal Dadlani, the song is homage for Bachchan where he is rightly projected as the baap of all action. Next to come is the 'Dub Step' version that sees coming together of multiple Western instruments, hence leading to a club sound which deserves to be played on high volume. For this version Vishal pitches in as an additional vocalist and renders the English portion with aplomb. With an infectious sound to it, the song should work well for the film if it makes an appearance at multiple points in the narrative.

Amitabh Bachchan continues to dominate the album with a love song 'Haal-E-Dil' following next. This Swanand Kirkire and Anvita Dutt written song has no similarities whatsoever though with the namesake Emraan Hashmi track in just released Murder 2. However the fact remains that this slow moving track is strictly for those who love listening to Amitabh Bachchan's voice, especially when it comes to soft melodies. Though it is remarkable to hear Bachchan demonstrating a good hold on his vocals, 'Haal-E-Dil' (belonging to similar genre as 'Main Yahan Tu Wahan' - Baghban and also featuring add on vocals by Monali Thakur and Skekhar) doesn't extend it's stay beyond the film's run.

What is unpardonable though is 'Main Chandigarh Di Star' which was basically meant to be the most commercially song in the album. On the contrary it turns out to be a big time downer. It is impossible to believe that Vishal-Shekhar are behind this number which totally fails to engage you from the very first note. Now that's even more disheartening for someone like Raveena Tandon who is making a comeback to films with this item number. Written by Anvita Dutt, this Punjabi-Hindi track by Sunidhi Chauhan is one of the least impressive item numbers that have released for a big film this year and it is surprising that it was added to the album in the first place.

OVERALL

Music of Bbuddah...Hoga Terra Baap disappoints, more so because one expected something fantastic to be coming out of an opportunity which was up for grabs here. However except for some exciting moments created by the title song, there isn't much to cheer about the soundtrack here.

OUR PICK(S)

Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap (Dub Step)
